Silversmithing 101 with Kate Hunter
Join us for an inspiring two-day introductory silversmithing workshop, designed to take you through the fundamental techniques of creating jewellery from metal sheet and wire.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn the foundations of sawing, filing, texturing, mark-making and forming, as well as exploring component making and developing an understanding of the science and art of effective soldering.
You’ll receive pieces of copper and brass to use for practice, giving you the opportunity to build confidence with the techniques before working with silver. Silver can be purchased by the gram from the tutor, so you only pay for what you use - approximately $7 per gram, with projects generally costing around $20–$100, depending on size.
With limited places available, this workshop offers a relaxed, hands-on learning experience with individual tuition and guidance throughout.
The 8-hour workshop is suitable for beginners and dabblers alike, providing you with the skills and confidence to create your own jewellery in silver, copper and brass.
