realised

an exhibition of new work by Free Space Studio artists curated by Arts Access Darwin

In this diverse array of artworks, the artists share imaginings, connections to Country, moments in time and fragments of sensory experience.

Expressed using a visual language of line, form, colour and gestural mark making. Realisations are essential to the creative process. In the context of visual arts practice, realisation could refer to art-making as a means for expressing emotional or spiritual experiences. Realised can also describe a finished or resolved work of art. Conversely a realisation may come at the beginning of the artist's process, refering to an initial fragment of an idea, a flash of insight that becomes a catalyst for a creative journey. At other times realisation might refer to achieving a level of technical skill. Arrived at by methodical practice and incremental studio development. As artists working in the studio, the processes and phases of expressive realisation are intrinsic to a lifelong creative practice.
