Would you like to learn how to fire an electric kiln?  

This introduction is the perfect lesson to learn how to correctly use and fire a kiln safely.  

You will learn how to:  

  1. Prepare the firing equipment 

  1. Load a kiln 

  1. Program a kiln 

  1. Monitor kiln operation 

  1. Rectify routine problems 

  1. Control hazards  

  1. Correctly clean kiln after use 

You will receive further information from the tutor closer to the training session.  

If you would like to start hiring the kilns at Tactile Arts, you must complete this training and complete a Kiln Hire Agreement.  

Please note, it is at the discretion of the Tactile Arts’ staff and delegated tutor to deign if you successfully meet the standard. If hirers are found to be misusing or incorrectly using equipment, Tactile Arts retains the right to cease hiring kilns to a user.  

You must be a Tactile Arts’ Member to hire kilns.

Attendance Requirements: You must wear fully enclosed shoes and bring the following safety equipment: 

  • Safety glasses
  • P2 face mask
  • Cut resistant gloves

 Terms and conditions:  

Minimum class size 5, maximum 8.  

Class subject to cancellation due to insufficient bookings. If a class is cancelled for this reason, a full refund will be issued.  

Cancellations with full refund can be made up until 2 weeks prior to workshop commencement, however individual classes will not be refunded due to nonattendance.
