In this 1-day workshop Fiona will teach the technique of plaiting using watercolour paper that has been tinted using earth pigments. You will learn the process of preparing the paper and how to make a four corner basket combining the contemporary medium of paper and traditional materials such as rattan.
Fiona Gavino graduated from Charles Darwin University with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (2006) and was selected to show in the premier national graduate show 'Hatched', she currently lives and works in Fremantle (WA). Her work has toured nationally and internationally and in her field she is a recognised and respected fibre artist. Fiona Gavino has been described as an intercultural artist working the traditional into the contemporary who strives to use basket making materials and techniques in new and innovative ways across sculpture, installation, video and printmaking.

Materials provided but participants may wish to bring along their own long nose tweezers and wear closed in footwear and comfortable clothing.
Minimum class size 5, maximum 10. Class subject to cancellation due to insufficient bookings in which case fees paid will be refunded. Full student refunds can be issued up to 7 working days prior to commencement, however individual classes will not be refunded due to nonattendance.
