with Danny Murphy
Come join us for a Raku workshop lead by Katherine born and raised expert ceramicist. Danny lives and works on his family property on the banks of Katherine River where he creates beautiful art work. Raku is a very quick technique to fire glazed pieces and within an hour have them finished ready to take home. It’s fun, exciting and dramatic.
This workshop is tailored to intermediate / advanced students in ceramics. It will require pre made bisque fired pieces of your own work that you will bring to the workshop to be fired. All pieces are required to be made in Keanes White Raku, which will be provided upon ticket purchases by Tactile Arts.
Tactile Arts will offer a bisque firing service on the 2nd of October for this workshop (included in your ticket price), however we do understand that many students have access to alternative kilns and are therefore able to organise their own firings if they prefer. Further information of this firing service will be provided upon ticket purchase.
Please note that we only have one raku kiln and will aim to fire at least two of your ceramic pieces, any additional pieces made may not get fired during the workshop.
What you will need to bring:
Bisque fired pieces (as many as you like, but be sure to have at least two favourites you would like fired. Any extras you can fit in are a bonus)
Your favourite underglaze stains (oxides)
What is provided by Tactile Arts:
1 bag of Keanes White Raku (to be picked up at the Tactile Arts office)
1 bisque firing of works created in Keanes white raku
Additional equipment for raku firing
