Learn how to fold origami cranes and make origami earrings in this workshop which will take place during the Tactile Arts Christmas Craft Fair.

Paper cranes symbolize good fortune, love and longevity. The tradition of the orizuru (ori– “folded,” tsuru “crane”), or paper crane, began in feudal Japan (1185–1603 CE), when people gifted each other the paper figures as symbols of honor and loyalty. According to Japanese tradition, folding 1,000 paper cranes gives a person a chance to make one special wish come true. Some stories believe a person who folds such cranes is granted happiness and eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury. This makes them popular gifts for family and close friends, perfect timing for Christmas!

Suitable for beginners.
