Come and join us for Troppo Film Lab's very own Black & White developing class! Ever wanted to get your hands dirty and learn how to develop black and white film? Troppo Film Lab offers a short 6-hour class (quick lunch in between) where we shoot, develop and scan a roll of black and white film! Everything for developing is supplied including film, if you don't have a camera we can also loan you one from our huge range of analog cameras. Meet us at 11:00am sharp for a short B&W history class followed by a photo walk to shoot a roll or two, develop and then scan them.

You will not only learn the art of black and white development but you will also improve you photography skills and leave the class with a roll of images sent to your phone and email!

This workshop is a one-day (6 hour) class in developing black-and-white film photographs. Over the day, attendees will learn the basics of black-and-white photography - from a short history of the medium, through to capturing the images and developing their roll of film.

Unlike traditional analogue photography classes, this class will not be based around the printing (darkroom) process. Rather, attendees will learn how to scan their film using a specialised scanner and can will receive digital copies of their images that are ready to download at the end of the workshop.

This workshop is for the complete beginner right through to advanced photographers who want to learn the full black and white process, from shooting a roll of film using a traditional analogue SLR camera right through to developing a roll of film.

Troppo Film Lab is Darwin's newest film photography lab - developing, scanning and selling all things film photography. Troppo Film Lab is run by Alice Duncan, a photographer and artist with a passion for education and accessibility within the arts. With over a decade of experience in working as a photographer and art teacher, Alice hopes that this workshop will create a space to allow others to learn about and experiment with photography as a means of self expression and communication.
