All studio hire options require an induction during office hours by pre-arranged appointment. Please email the office staff to arrange an induction: admin@tactilearts.org.au

Casual access to Tactile Arts studios is available to Tactile Arts members during office hours, 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday. Bookings can be made with the office staff via phone or email. Click here for contact information.

Outside hours casual acess is only available at the discretion of Tactile Arts staff and to those with a demonstrated history of correct and responsible studio and equipment use at our facilities. Payment must be made in advance for outside hours casual hire.

Members:

Tactile Arts offers a 7-Day studio hire access option to Tactile Arts members who have an active association with the organisation, and a demonstrated history of correct and responsible studio and equipment use, as determined by Tactile Arts staff. This hire option sees the hirer supplied with a key to the studio and amenities, which allows 24-hour entry, except during pre-arranged workshops, dates and times for which are displayed on the studio calendar. A key deposit of $30 is required under this option.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a waiting list for key hirers in the Tactile Arts Ceramics Studio.

The below lists detail what is included when hiring space in the ceramics studio, and what you'll need to supply yourself.

Tactile Arts has a range of kilns of varying sizes for firing your ceramic work. We also have a glass kiln which is regularly used by the Darwin Fused Glass Group. Kilns are only available for hire by Tactile Arts members, and must only be operated by those who have received a full kiln training induction.

Kiln hire is organised through the office (by phone, email or in person) and attracts a fee depending on the size of the kiln and the firing temperature, as below. Click here for contact information.

The kiln hire fee is for the hire of the entire kiln for the duration of the firing including cooling time, generally between 3 and 4 days. Tactile Arts staff will ensure that an appropriately trained operator is also arranged at the time of the booking, if necessary. Payment must be made in advance of your scheduled kiln booking.
