Join textile artist Loani Prior for a 2 day workshop in fabric collage & Quilt design. From photographs and biological illustrations of those already fantastical creatures – the rooster and the fish - you will learn to capture their movement and character with pencil on paper, to look deep into your fabric prints with a brand new eye, turning leaves into fins, flowers into chicken heads, circles into body parts. A Fantastical Fabric Collage – ready for wall hanging, or to play the hero of your next quilt.
Participants will make a large piece 1.2m x 50cm which can then be made into a wall hanging or start off the center piece of a quilt.

Two sessions
Thursday 20 July & Friday 21 July 2023
10 am to 5pm
Paper and some scrap fabric will be provided. Participants have the option of using hand applique techniques during the workshop or machine skills. Machine sewing is done post workshop back at home.
Participants must bring
- Your sharpest pair of dressmaking scissors
- Needles (No. 9 milliners)
- Coloured cotton threads
- 4B lead pencil
- A good selection of cotton fabrics with large floral prints
- Two or more different backgrounds cut to wall hanging size 1.2 m x ½m
- Your inner six-year-old.
- IF YOU INTEND TO MACHINE APPLIQUE back at home after the workshop - please bring with you the fusible webbing and or freezer paper you prefer to use.
Minimum class size 5, maximum 10. Class subject to cancellation due to insufficient bookings in which case fees paid will be refunded. Full student refunds can be issued up to 7 working days prior to commencement, however individual classes will not be refunded due to nonattendance.
