Join territory artist Dawn Beasley for a workshop in silk screen printing.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to create multi-layered prints using a photographic silkscreen printing process combined with hand-cut stencils create your own pop art inspired artwork.
Silk screen printing is a printing technique that involves using a mesh screen to transfer ink onto a substrate, such as fabric or paper. The process involves creating a stencil on the screen, which is then placed on top of the substrate. Ink is then applied to the screen and pushed through the mesh using a squeegee. The ink passes through the open areas of the stencil and onto the substrate, creating the desired image or pattern. Silk screen printing can be used to print on a variety of materials, including textiles, ceramics, and paper products. It is commonly used in the production of T-shirts, posters, and other promotional materials.
In this course you will have the opportunity to print on paper and fabric (a tote bag) with the added option to print on a collaged surface and/or to bring in your own plain t-shirts, tea towels etc to add to the substrates provided.
This workshop will run over two days and is suitable for beginners or those with some experience.
What you should bring:
- You’ll need to wear closed in shoes. Bring an apron and/or wear ‘studio’ clothes.
- Your camera phone to create a suitable image for printing (a self-portrait – we will help each other take some awesome shots!)
- Bring snacks/lunch (tea, instant coffee and milk will be provided)

Minimum class size 6, maximum 8. Class subject to cancellation due to insufficient bookings in which case fees paid will be refunded. Full student refunds can be issued up to 7 working days prior to commencement, however individual classes will not be refunded due to nonattendance.
